Obituary of Vivian T Jordan

Vivian T. Jordan passed away at home on August 8, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Vivian had been a resident of Basking Ridge for 42 years. She was born on October 26, 1929 in Hackensack, NJ, to the late Elizabeth (nee Jacobi) and John Henke. She was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, and faithful servant of her Lord. Her kind and cheerful disposition, open heart, and ability to connect deeply with others brought great joy to those who were lucky enough to know her, and she will be missed dearly. Vivian was raised in Rochelle Park, NJ and graduated from Saint Cecilia High School in Englewood, NJ; where she met the love of her life, the late Walter L. Jordan, Jr. to whom she was married for almost 50 years. After dedicating her younger years to raising her children, Vivian attended Kean College where she earned her BA, graduating summa cum laude and earning a place in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as a professional Interior Designer and owner of Vivian Jordan Interiors. Vivian is survived by her son Walter Jordan and his wife Barbara Gannett; daughter Kelly Gatti, her husband Vincent, and their sons Sean and Christopher; daughter Jenna Jordan; and step-grandchildren Christopher Jones and Paige Stoecker. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many beloved friends and "family" earned during a life well-lived. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 5 - 8 PM at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14 at 10AM at The Church of Saint James, 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge NJ. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge will immediately follow the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to benefit the Hospice Services of the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills or the donor's charity of choice.
