Obituary of A. Russell Hoge
Albert Russell Hoge, 81, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the Center for Hope in Scotch Plains, NJ. Born on August 25, 1943, in Ridley Park, PA, to Wesley and Sara (Hall) Hoge, Russ lived a full and meaningful life, marked by dedication to family, friends, work, and service.
Russ is survived by his beloved wife, Jill Paul, his cherished children Nancy Coto and Andrew Hoge, and their mother, Lynne Hoge. He is also lovingly remembered by his younger brother, Ron Hoge, and the memory of his late sister, Shirley. His grandchildren, Emilia, Benjamin, and Ange, will forever hold his love in their hearts. He will be missed deeply by the extended Hoge and Ballinger families, as well as the Paul family, who also profoundly mourn his loss.
A distinguished chemical engineer, Russ retired from Mobil Chemical Company in 1998 as the General Manager of one of their chemical businesses after 16 years of stellar service. In retirement, he found joy in life's simpler pleasures—hosting family gatherings by his lakefront back yard, working on projects around his home, and creating beautiful spaces with his hands. Whether maintaining his property, tending to his ponds and fountains, or tinkering in his carpentry shop, Russ was happiest when serving others and finding ways to improve the lives of those around him.
He will be remembered as epitomizing kindness and devotion. Russ was so beloved by all whose lives he touched. He adored nature and the heavens, so it is befitting that his passing took place under the beautiful Northern Lights.
A private burial service will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, NJ, on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Russ’ favorite charities NJSHpetrescue.org. Condolences may be sent to the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home at 101 S Finley Ave, Basking Ridge NJ, 07920.
