Obituary of Maurice Smith

Maurice Smith, 83, of Bridgewater, NJ passed away Friday March 26, 2010 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY he was 1 of 18 children. After living in Staten Island for 63 years he moved to Highland Lakes, NJ where he resided 10 years prior to settling in Bridgewater, NJ in 2000. Maurice proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Maurice was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Catherine Smith, two daughters and sons-in law Linda and Gary Kocian, and Karen and Robert Lemke, four grandchildren Casey and Kelly Kocian, and Katie and Alison Lemke, five brothers and one sister. A Liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at the Church of St. James, 184 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ at 10:00am, followed by a committal service at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Mt Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Monday March 29, 2010 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm.
