Obituary of Douglas Liguori
Douglas Elia Liguori, 76, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, passed away on June 25, 2019 at home with his family. Douglas was born in Newark, New Jersey to Olga and Louis Liguori. He met his wife, Judith Elaine Maringer, in high school, and they married in 1965. Dougl had a long and distinguished career as an IT Director at Schering-Plough in Kenilworth, New Jersey, through which he formed deep friendships around the world. Upon retiring, Doug played a key role in founding the Hearts For Honduras School in La Entrada, Honduras. He traveled to Honduras many times in his leadership role where he touched the lives of many. Doug was passionate about serving others and making the world a better place. He also had a knack for making people laugh and smile through his warm jokes and many group photos with Groucho Marx-style nose glasses.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Judith, his daughter and son-in-law Kristin and Jeff Melitski and his son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Lindsay Liguori, his grandchildren Patrick, Michael, Daniel, Paul, Kayley, and Ashley, his sisters Linda Mullin and Paula Nisch, his brother, Scott Liguori, and his beloved dog, Abby.
A private celebration of Doug’s life will be held by the family at a future date. The family is working to set up a memorial fund in Doug’s memory.
