I am so sorry for your loss. Doug was a friend with an incredible calling. I travelled to Honduras with Doug on a few occasions in support of the Hearts for Honduras school, and worked with him for several years in support of the school. His passion for helping, using his many gifts in service, and for others left a lifelong impact on me. I am so sorry for the loss of such an extraordinary person. I was struck by his intellectualism, his deep consideration for others and the depth of his humanity. He will be missed.

Douglas’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

My deepest condolences to the family for this tremendous loss. May the words found at Isaiah 26:19 bring you comfort in knowing that you will one day see Doug again.
Isaiah 26:19 "Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life"

My deepest sympathy to the entire family for your loss. During this time of great sorrow and pain, may it be a source of inner strength to know that there’s a loving God watching over you and that throughout this time of need, He’ll stay close by your side. May you find comfort in your precious memories and love shared. May the words of 1 Peter 5:7 “ while you throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you” bring the entire family comfort and strength. Please accept my sincere condolences.

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of the passionate and helpful soul that Doug embodied. I was among those fortunate to be on the first trip in 1997 to La Entrada, and beyond, to support the Liberty Corner Church mission in Honduras to assist in the construction of a the multipurpose church and sewing shop in La Majada. We sought to provide a step up to those in Honduras and in the church community there. While I lost touch with The Mission, I know that it lived on well beyond my years at Liberty Corner. I still have at hand the jar of volcanic ash from La Majada that I believe Doug provided to all participants. I am hopeful that the mission of Hearts for Honduras that emerged from that first year trip, and that was championed by Doug, will continue to provide Hondurans with a place of refuge and hope well beyond Doug’s years.

So sad to lose such a dear friend of more than 50 years. We have so many fond memories of Doug, Judy, Kristin, and Kevin growing up. He was a great husband, Dad, and friend. We hope the loving memories will sustain Judy and family during this difficult time.
Love to you all,
Mary and Don
