Obituary of Robert H Akins

Robert H. Akins, 95, of Basking Ridge passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center after a short illness. Robert was born in Bayonne, NJ before becoming a lifelong resident of Basking Ridge. He attended Penn State University where he achieved his Bachelors Degree. He worked as an industrial engineer for DuPont before retiring in 1983. Robert was in the United States Navy from 1943-1945 and fought in World War II. He loved golf and was a member of Mendham Golf and Tennis Club. He was also a member of the Pastime Bowling Club, and a member of Bishop Janes United Methodist Church, Basking Ridge. Robert is predeceased by his wife Mary in 1998. He is survived by his beloved companion Anne Wightman. His three children, Cheryl Dahlstrand and husband Timothy of North Brook, IL, Nancy Johnson and husband Paul of Colleyville, TX, and Jefferson Akins and wife Leah of Highlands, NY. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Peter, John, Amanda, Zachary, Shoshana, Ariel, four great grandchildren, Jena-Paul, Joseph, Raphel, and Thomas.
