My condolences to the family members and dear friends of Carol. I was not aware of her passing until reading her obit. in the Star Ledger newspaper, on the day of her funeral service. I knew Carol & husband Chet, through my late wife Louise Larsen Anderson. Louise and Carol were very good friends & teachers at Wilson Elem. School in Westfield. Louise taught 2nd grade; and spent 30 yrs. teaching, prior to retiring 1m 1990. I got to know Carol through social gatherings of teachers from Wilson Sch. They ALL were a great bunch of delightful people and dedicated educators. Carol was Special ! She was so pleasant to be around; so gracious; so understanding. A Real Dear Woman. She was a dear friend to my Louise. After retiring, Louise founded a group of former Wilson School teachers into a social "group" called W.R.I.P. "Wilson Retired Important People". Members included Phyllis Babb, Gaile Boothe, Carol, Gay Brown, Barbara Cooley, Eleanor Dean, Helen Grygiel, Jo Kmak, Louise Lindsey, Vera Lough, Gert Meeker, Muriel Northover, Lenore Robina, Barbara Rottenberg, and Nancy Schmidt. (photo of this group available)The group met for social lunches from time to time, and had delightful times sharing their friendship and love of teaching with each other.
We were sort of shocked when we heard that Carol & Chet were moving from their home, after retirement, to Fellowship Village. They were the first couple that I had know who looked into the future and planned ahead for their future. We were shocked at the time, figuring that Fellowship was a place for Old People !!! Their planning wound up being the best decision they could have made. I know that Carol enjoyed her years at Fellowship, and although she missed her Dear Chet, she immersed herself into the various activities at the facility. I have fond memories of Carol. She was so comforting when my Louise passed in 2003. A Lovely woman who had an Impact on the lives of Many, and will not be forgotten. We Love her and Miss her. May She Rest In Peace!
