Obituary of Robert Rodgers
Robert Rodgers, of Westfield, Spring Lake and Clinton NJ died peacefully on February 4, 2017 at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, NJ.
He was born on December 1, 1935 Roselle, NJ and was the youngest of 8 children of Frank and Margaret Rodgers. He graduated from Abraham Clark High and then went on to study teaching and education at Newark College and NYU.
After several years teaching in Linden NJ, Bob went on to work with his brother at Nycoil Company in Fanwood NJ. He worked at various jobs during the growth of the company, spending most of the years in the sales and marketing areas.
Retiring from Nycoil in 2000, he moved from Westfield to Clinton to a new home where he could enjoy retirement. Bob enjoyed traveling, tennis, hiking and relaxing at his home in Spring Lake with a book.
He is survived by a single remaining sister, Florence Fiorello and long time friend Gonzalo Puertas as well as all their many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother Frank Rodgers and their sisters Dorothy McGuire, Margaret Rodgers, Virginia Honold, Eileen Sharkey, and Marie Wolfe.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge NJ. A burial prayer service will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, February 10, 2017 in the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery at 145 Mt. Airy Road in Basking Ridge NJ.
