Obituary of Mary F. Kapp

Mary Frances Kapp, 54, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Born June 4th, 1962 in Fraser, Michigan to Patricia Murtagh Dowling and John V. Dowling. Mary moved to Bridgewater, Connecticut with her family at the age of three where she attended Burnham Elementary School and Shepaug High School. She spent much of her time caring for and showing her horse Tracy, growing up with a menagerie of animals, playing tennis and sailing, and sharing her humor and style with all those charmed with her presence. Mary earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut and forged friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Following college, Mary moved to Manhattan where she began her career at Revlon then joined Simon & Schuster. While raising her children, Mary created a career as an accomplished and resourceful independent consulting artwork editor. Mary is survived by her adoring husband Andrew Kapp whose marriage of 27 years graced us with their children Drew, Madeline, and Ted. She is also survived by her father John V. Dowling, and her sisters Patty Dowling Finnegan, Kate Dowling and Crissy Dowling, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, aunts, uncles and friends. Mary was predeceased by her mother Patricia Dowling, her brother Dennis Dowling, and her loving canine companion Tuxedo. Mary's family and treasured friends are a testament to her loving spirit. While Mary's life with us was cut short, her spirit shines on and her countless acts of kindness inspire us to follow her path. A highly motivated and involved community member, Mary joyfully gave of herself by giving to others and serving as an Advisory Board Member of Heartworks NJ. A wake will be held in the Chapel at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 184 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ on Friday December 9, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will also be held at St. James Church on Saturday December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mary's honor to Heartworksnj.org, or St. Barnabas Hospital Cancer Center.
