Obituary of Dieter K Amelang

Dieter Klaus Amelang, 81, of Bernardsville, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2016. He was born in Eisleben, East Germany, and entered mason apprenticeship at age 15. He went on to becoming a skilled Master Stone Mason and came to the USA in 1967 to find a better life for his family. He worked very hard to provide his children the opportunities for higher success that eluded him due to the difficult times during and after the war in Europe. Dieter was quite the pool shark and table tennis champ in his day. He also loved spending time hiking and being close to nature, watching the birds and animals. He enjoyed visiting and celebrating life with family in America and back in Germany. Dieter was a longtime dedicated member and officer of the German-American cultural club of Germania Park in Dover, NJ. He is survived by his wife, Helene, and three children, Dietmar, Peter, and Heike, and three grandchildren, Erika, Victor, and Amanda. Auf Wiedersehen, mein Schatz, Papa, und Opa.
