Obituary of Marieliese Mihok

CELEBRATION OF A LIFE WELL LIVED AND LOVED Marieliese Mihok October 19, 1934 – August 11, 2016 Marieliese Mihok passed away peacefully at home at the age of 81 on Thursday, August 11, 2016 with family surrounding her in love, compassion, and light. She was the oldest of five children of the late Hans Jürgen, Sr. and Mary (Litwin) Muhler. Dearly loved by all, her genuine kindness and inspirational strength was felt far and wide. With her welcoming smile and hardworking spirit, she was a joy and a blessing to know. Mrs. Mihok grew up in Upper Montclair, NJ. She was an avid gardener, passionate horsewoman, and experienced dog groomer and breeder. In 1974, with her late husband John, five children, horses, dogs, cats and birds in tow, the family moved to a large horse farm in New Vernon, NJ. She found tranquility in the daily simplicity of farm life. Mare, as she was affectionately called, provided a loving and inviting home. Always a gracious hostess, she loved entertaining family and friends at her home. Her joyful kind heart enabled gatherings where conversations flowed and souls were healed. Her farm was a sanctuary for easing one's burdens. With camera in hand, she captured families' lives at their most glorious moments in laughter, love and togetherness. An entrepreneur in her own right, 'Harmony Hill Farm' was her pride and joy second only to her family. She was a Bridlespurs 4-H Leader and mentor to many Puddingstone and Spring Valley Hounds pony clubbers over the years. There was always a dog to hug, a pony to ride and many other animals to find comfort in. Also an avid horsewoman, she instinctively knew that horses were good for the soul and was always eager to provide that experience to others. May she continue to enjoy heavenly horseshows throughout eternity. Mrs. Mihok was confirmed at Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair and a member of First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon. She is survived by her five children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Wendy and Peter Ross, of Millington, NJ, and Emiley, Kelly, and Jessica Ross; Heather and Jeff Smith of Durham, NH, and Joshua and Cate, Eliza and Evelyn Smith of Durham, NH; and Courtney and Miles, Westin and Pierson Roberge of Dover, NH; Christopher and Anita Mihok of Durham, NH, and Holley Mihok; Peter and Christine Mihok of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Emma Mihok; Heidi and Scott Collins of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Brian and Lindsay Collins. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters: Hans Jr. and Marie Muhler of Sea Girt, NJ; Rita McCord of Pipersville, PA; Linda and Richard Arnold of Liberty Corner, NJ; Cynthia and James Marquardt of Dunnellon, FL. She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband, John J. Mihok, Jr. and her grandson, Tyler John Smith.
