Obituary of Ray Louis Iannone

Ray Louis Iannone, 88, of Basking Ridge, N.J., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016. Prior to moving to Basking Ridge in 1976, he resided in West Orange. Ray graduated from West Orange High School in 1946 and was employed by Firemen's Insurance Company before proudly entering the United States Army in 1950 where he valiantly served in the Korean War reaching the rank of Platoon Sgt. Upon returning from Korea, he was an Exxon dealer in Bloomfield for over 32 years. In addition, he worked with his sons, Daniel & John, of Iannone Bros. Landscaping until 2006. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Daniel Iannone & his sister Mary. He is survived by his devoted wife, Regina Bergen Iannone, and was a loving husband to her for 64 years. He is also survived by his three sons and their wives whom he thought of as daughters, David and Cynthia from Virginia, Daniel and Sharon from Bernardsville, and John and Christine from Berkeley Heights. He was the proud grandfather of Megan, Matthew, Julianne, John Patrick, Jr., Anthony, and Christopher & great-grandfather to McKayla, Callie, Ella, Victoria, & Emily. He is also survived by his loving sister-in-law, Patty Bergen Cray. A mass celebrating Ray's life will be held at St. James Church, 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, N.J., 07920, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in memory of Ian Cray.
