Obituary of Jennie Cogger

It is with our deepest sorrow that we must announce the passing of Jennie Cogger. Born Janina Lucyna Pengielski, on April 21, 1923, she lived a full and enriching life until she passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 2, 2016. Jennie was 92 years old. Born to Walter Pengielski and Sophia Wojnarowski Pengielski in Bound Brook, NJ. Her parents built their home, and raised their family in Scotch Plains, NJ. Jennie leaves behind her two sisters, Violet Pengielski Poliseo and Eleanor Pengielski MacNicoll. Jennie grew up and attended school in Scotch Plains, very involved in her schoolwork and involved in many school activities, she attained scholorships so she may attend the college of her choice. She was accepted into Trenton State College and began to study to become a teacher. It was here that she met her future husband and love of her life, John (Jack) W. Cogger. After graduating from school with a Bachelors Degree, and courting Jack for sometime, she returned home to work in her hometown school as a teacher. Jennie was full of spunk, and very dedicated. She desired to make a difference in this world and share her knowledge in an important and meaningful way, it was then she decided to put her personal life on hold and take a job overseas during wartime, teaching the children of our dedicated servicemen who were stationed abroad. She traveled extensively all over Europe and Asia and thoroughly enjoyed her work. Seeing the world was so thrilling to her, and this could be an opportuninty to share her experiences with all those in her life that she would care for and love. After returning from her oversea adventure, she returned to her home in Scotch Plains, reunited with Jack, and eventually agreed to become his bride. In August of 1958 they married, and began their long and fulfilling life together. Jennie and Jack had three children, Lori, John, and Barbara. They bought their home and raised their three children in Basking Ridge, NJ where she lived the rest of her life. Although she had three children, Jennie devoted a great part of her life to raising her two Granddaughters, Jennifer and Jessica. It was Jennie's continued effort to please her family, help those whom she loved so much, and have an undying care for those who were a part of her life, that made Jennie the spectacular person that all of her friends and family knew her to be. She was an active member of her church, Liberty Corner Presbyterian, as well as an active member of her community. Jennie loved the outdoors, nature and all its beauty, she enjoyed skiing in the winter, playing tennis on the courts, and relaxing on the beach enjoying the serenity of the ocean. Surviving are her three children, Lori Cogger Camp, and her husband Jaymee Camp, John Cogger and his wife Grace Cogger, and Barbara Cogger Smith. She had eight grandchildren, Jennifer Brehm Nicholson and her husband David Nicholson, Jessica Brehm Oblinger and her fiancé Tyler Lecoque, Stanley Chambers and his wife Therese Chambers, Abbigail Smith and her husband Carlos Nunez, Scott Smith, Devin Cogger, Brittany Cogger, and Meghan Cogger. Jennie had fourteen great grandchildren, and five nephews and two nieces. Jennie will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held in Jennies honor at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church, Liberty Corner, NJ on March 15, 2016 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow at their Douglas Hall. There will be a private family service at the graveside.
