Obituary of Shirley Townley

Shirley Townley Vallacchi, 86, passed away quietly on February 20th at the Parker Memorial Home in Brunswick, NJ surrounded by her family. She was born to Theodore and Charlotte Vallacchi on March 8, 1929 in Bernardsville, NJ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Lorraine and her daughter Deborah Ann Fairchild and her son in law Marc Snyder.. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward R. Townley, their children Linda Snyder, Carol Brudner, Edward Townley and Steven Townley, and their spouses Errol Brudner, Jennifer Townley, Mary Beth Townley, and her brother Teddy Vallacchi. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Matthew and David Brudner, Ben and Noah Townley, Lauren Fairchild, and Nick and Corrine Townley. Shirley was early supporter women's rights and member of the National Organization for Women. Shirley received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University and was a social worker for the State of New Jersey. She was quick to volunteer her time, talent, and treasure and spent countless hours helping those less fortunate than her. She was an avid quilter, voracious reader and accomplished home cook. Shirley was devoted to her family and friends and her presence will be sorely missed. Memorial Visitation will be held on March 19, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00am at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ.
