Obituary of Raphael H Beresford

Raphael H. Beresford, age 87, died Dec. 27 at his home in Basking Ridge. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Ray attended Loras College for two years before serving in the army. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and from Harvard Business School with an MBA. Ray spent 32 years with Exxon Corporation in a variety of positions, and retired in 1986 as corporate Vice President of Petroleum Products. After his career with Exxon, he was one of the founders of International Energy Consultants, Ltd., and enjoyed his second career until 1996. Ray served on the boards of New Eyes for the Needy, the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, and the Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation. He was a member of Baltusrol Golf Club and the Short Hills Club. Ray was predeceased by his son John, and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann, and his daughter Jane. A memorial mass will be held on Jan. 9 at 10:30 am at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge.
