Obituary of Gilbert Michael Reischmann, Jr

Gilbert ("Mike") Reischmann, Jr., passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, November 30, 2015. He was born May 30, 1940 and was 75 years old. He was a resident of Bernardsville, NJ for over 44 years. He suffered from 12 years of Parkinson's disease coupled with 6 years of spinal stenosis. Mike Reischmann was a gifted-hands carpenter and general contractor. He owned Mike Reischmann General Contractor, Inc. for the past 38 years. He will be fondly remembered by family, neighbors and clients for his willingness to share and to give of his talents, expertise and time. He graduated from St. Francis College, Loretto, PA was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Bernardsville, NJ. He was an avid hobbyist of hot-rod cars. He was an agriculturist and breeder of tropical and pond fish in his local garden. He is survived by his loyal wife of 49 years, Christine Matthew-Reischmann, and two children: Michelle Reischmann-Klaiss and her husband, Ron Klaiss from Bernardsville, NJ and Scott Matthew Reischmann and his wife, Michelle Thresher-Reischmann, from Pownal, ME, and six grandchildren, Ruth, Rachel, Naomi, Aidan, Noah and Jonah. Additionally survived are his two brothers: Shawn M. Reischmann, Gladstone, NJ and Barry M. Reischmann, Penn Grove, CA and loving father-in-law, William Matthew. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 Finley Ave., Basking Ridge, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 111 Claremount Rd., Bernardsville, NJ. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge, NJ.
