Obituary of Sean Bree

Sean Bree of Tewksbury, NJ passed from us on September 9, 2015 at the age of 93. Sean was born and lived the first thirty-five years of his life in Dublin, Ireland, spending summers where his heart lay by the sea in Strandhill, Sligo. In his seventeenth year, Sean became a lifelong member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart. In Dublin, Sean spent many nights and weekend, playing billiards and snooker with his Pioneer colleagues. Sean developed into an excellent player, leading his team to several team championships, including the National Cup in 1950, and himself winning individual championships in 1952, 1954, and 1955. Sean and his bride-to-be, Eithne Billings, emigrated from Ireland to the Bronx, New York, where they married in St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in 1957. Sean and Eithne raised four children who with their parents' guidance and tutelage are raising loving families of their own. After Eithne passed on in July 2012, Sean continued to live in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, spending leisurely days in New York, the adopted city that he loved, and traveling as often as he could to visit with his children and grandchildren. In July of this year, Sean moved to Tewksbury where he lived until his death in the loving care of his daughter-in-law and son, Anne Marie and Dermot. Sean was a man of extraordinary moral character, loving and leading his family by his own exemplary life. Sean will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Sean is survived by his sisters, Carmel and Ena; his son, Kevin Bree, his wife Diane, and their children, Rachel and Kendra; his son Dermot Bree, his wife Anne Marie, and their children, Courtney, Dermot and Elizabeth; his son Brian Bree, his wife Miriam, and their children, Stephanie and Keith; and his daughter Sheila Green, her husband Jeff, and their children, Eric, Christopher, Aaron and Shaelyn. A celebration of Sean's life will be held on Saturday September 12, 2015 with a visitation at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home,101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. James at 184 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ.
