Obituary of Marguerite R Henderson

HENDERSON – Marguerite Ryan Henderson, 79, of Basking Ridge, formerly of New York NY, Phoenix AZ, South Orange NJ, and Skytop PA, died peacefully Sunday, June 14th in Morristown NJ. Marguerite was born in New York City to Edward and Catherine Ryan. She attended Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in La Canada, CA; and earned a degree in Fine Arts from Marymount University, Los Angeles. Her education and extensive European travels led to a fluency in Italian that brought her to Florence, Italy where she studied Haute Couture design, fabrication and tailoring. In May of 1959, in New York City, she was introduced to her loving husband of 34 years, Robert J Henderson. They married in October of the same year and raised 5 children in South Orange, NJ. Marguerite was predeceased by her husband in 1993; her daughter, Celene Anita Henderson, in 1999; and her sister Sheila Ryan Murphy in 1978. She is survived by her siblings Ted (Barbara) Ryan, Charlene Linsalata, Jennifer (Stan) Carmichael; and her children R. Bart (Lily) Henderson, Gabrielle Marguerite Henderson, Thaddeus Ryan (Ariana) Henderson, Luke Thomas Henderson; and her seven grandchildren. Family and friends were what Marguerite valued most. She was steadfast and devoted; and always the constant caregiver for all of those she loved. Whether it was her husband, her daughter Celene, Sr. Gertrude or Fr. Ed she was always there to walk those with the greatest need through the toughest parts of their life. All those that knew her will miss her constant presence, care and love. Marguerite led by example and it was her dignified faith and peaceful presence that frames the picture of a beautiful daughter, wife, mother and friend that lived a full and beautiful life. She will be remembered with great love. Visitation will be held on Friday June 19, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave., Basking Ridge NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, 10:30am, at St. James Catholic Church, Basking Ridge. Interment will be private for the family.
