Obituary of Henry G Raub

World War II veteran, retired Township of Springfield employee and Freemason, 88 Longtime Vauxhall resident Henry "Hank" Raub passed peacefully on March 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at the home of his niece, Shirley Dillon, in Basking Ridge, N.J. Mr. Raub served as a Corporal Aerial B-29 Gunner with the 448th bombardment group during World War II. He worked as a motorcycle officer for the Lavallette Police Department and also served the Township of Springfield, N.J. prior to his retirement. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #22 in Cranford, N.J. He was predeceased by his parents, Ella and Henry; his brothers Gus and Wilbur; sisters Regina and Phoebe; cherished wife June and beloved daughter Kathryn. A deeply kind man, Mr. Raub touched the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Anna May Temple of Toms River, N.J.; brothers Albert Raub of Waretown, N.J., and Edmond Raub of South Toms River, N.J.; granddaughter Heather Petrelli of Bradenton, Fla., and grandson Lance Wende of Hampstead, Md.; great grandsons Ryan Saylor of Baltimore, Md., and Kyle Wende of Hampstead, Md. He will never be forgotten by those he has left behind, including his surviving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service, to be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home at 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, N.J. on April 11, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or local Veterans Association would be preferred.
