Obituary of Edwin Soucie

Edwin Soucie, Jr., 74, Basking Ridge resident Edwin Soucie, Jr., of Basking Ridge, NJ and St. Froid Lake, Winterville, ME, entered into his eternal life on Thursday, December 11, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. Born in Winterville, ME on May 25, 1940, he was one of 6 children of the late Edwin & Cecile Soucie. He was lovingly raised by his Aunt and Uncle, the late Irené and Nellie Pellitier, whom he loved and adored. Mr. Soucie entered the US Marine Corp. in 1958 and while stationed in Bermuda, he met his wife, Grace. After serving as a Sgt. for 6 ½ years in the Marines, he settled in NJ where he completed his BS degree from Rutgers and began his accounting career. He was retired from Foster Wheeler Corp., Clinton, NJ, where he held the position of National and International Tax Director. His passion was his family and his dream log home on the lake in his Maine hometown where he was an avid fisherman. He loved sharing with his children and grandchildren his love of the lake and the woods where he was raised. His priorities were God, Family and Country. In his later years, he also enjoyed volunteering his time for the semi-annual VNA Rummage Sale. No task or undertaking was too great for him. He was a goal oriented and tireless worker, especially for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Grace (Gelormino), precious children, Brian Soucie and wife Mary, Claudine McMahon and husband Sean, beloved grandchildren, Briana, Samantha, Richele, Connor, Brenden and Megan, loving brothers Carroll and Arnold, sister Marie, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers, Raynold and William. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, December 15 at St. James Church, Basking Ridge. Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
