Obituary of Arthur F McInerney

Arthur F. McInerney, age 81, passed away at home on Saturday August 16th 2014 after a long illness surrounded by his family. Arthur and his family were residents of Basking Ridge for 43 years. A native of Bayonne, NJ, he was born on March 22nd 1933. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was trained as a paratrooper at Fort Campbell, KY. He married his wife of 56 years, Barbara C. Wirth in 1958. In 1967 he founded his own company, which would later become KEB Delivery Service. Securing several large ground shipping contracts, Arthur enabled the business to grow and thrive. He remained the head of KEB for 33 years before stepping down in 2000 and giving the reins to his son, Eugene. After his retirement, Arthur remained a consultant. In this time, however, he was able to further explore his passion, golf. Arthur was a member emeritus at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ where he was an avid and well loved golfer and gin player. In addition to his leisure activities, Arthur took the most pleasure in his family, raising three children and three grandsons, taking a strong interest in their education. His children followed him, not only into the family business, but also into golf, a sport they would often play together. Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his son Kenneth and wife Laura of Basking Ridge, NJ daughter Bernadette and husband Dr. Joseph Lupia of Monroe, NY, son Eugene and wife Alyssa of Summit, NJ and his three grandsons, Daniel and Jeffrey Lupia, and Steven McInerney. He is also survived by his sister Florence and husband Ronald Guarducci of Rockaway, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barbara and Arthur supported the Somerset Hills Adult Day Center, the VNA of Somerset Hills, and many other organizations which all greatly benefited from their generosity. In his memory the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to SHADC and the Hospice Services of the VNA of Somerset Hills, 200 Mt. Airy Rd, Basking Ridge, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 20th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm-8pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday August 21st at 11am at St James R.C. Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge will immediately follow the Mass.
