What is dying? ~
'A Parable of Immortality' written by Henry van Dyke
(1852 - 1933)
I am standing on the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white clouds just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!"
"Gone where?"
"Gone from my sight, that's all". She is just as large in mast and spar and hull as ever she was when she left my side; just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that is dying.

Mrs Johnson was of great influence on my life. She always had a grace about her interaction with anyone she knew. She was real, funny, kind, and made anyone she spoke to feel like they were the only person in the room. She was a person who laughed easily and made you feel that she was by your side like the mother of all of us.

To the Masters Family & the Johnson Clan
Today your loss is inconsolable and Rosemary's absence unbearable. The only consolation is that her pain is over. With time you'll come to recognize and relish the things she taught you and that you passed to your children. Simple daily actions will comfort you and she will live in you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rosemary Johnson taught me to be the person I wanted to be. During our high-school years, I walked in the Johnson house on Mendham Road and left my shoes at the door; as I walked into the kitchen, she said “Did St. Peter just wash your feet, where are your shoes?” When she smiled, her eyes twinkled, and she was the kindest most loving woman I have ever known. We are all lucky to have known her. God Bless you during this difficult time and know your Mom is sitting on all of your shoulders. Sincerely, Joanie Gilson

Dear Johnson family,
I remember your mother and Russ, Cathy, Judy, Mark, Bill and Bob from church and from babysitting the six of you. Greg and Carol, I didn't know you personally but your mother was so proud of you when she talked about you the last time I saw her, about 20 years ago. Your mother taught me so much about living with grace and compassion. She paid attention as if you were the only person in the world. And she so loved her children and family life. Hers is a life to celebrate, even in mourning.
The loss of a Mother is an impossible loss. The place she fills in you is not empty but is changed in a way that can be difficult to bear sometimes. I offer all of you--children, their spouses, grandchildren (and maybe there are great-grandchildren now) consolation and sympathy. I hope your Mother's love soothes you throughout your lives.
With fond memories and deep sympathy, Janie

How wonderful to share two beautiful grandchildren with you, Rosemary....Why am I Nana B you asked? Why, because you're Burdee so that makes you Nana B and makes me Nana Pat! I'll always remember the first couple of weeks of their lives...you feeding Zach and me feeding Brielle....sitting on the couch, witnessing our miracle, loving each and every second of that experience.

Sorry we lost touch and I did not know or I would have been there to share in your sorrow. Only found out this month tried to contact many times to no avail. Rosemary was a fantastic personI
