Obituary of Edmund James DeFilippis
Edmund James DeFilippis, 88, of Warren died on May 26, 2014 at his residence. Born in Stirling, Ed resided in Warren for 59 years, and was active in the community all of his life. He was retired from Public Service Electric and Gas in Elizabeth , NJ in 1987, where he was employed as a trouble shooter.
He is survived by his wife Carol Wallen DeFilippis. His children Edmund J. Jr. and his wife Terry of Watchung, Robert and his wife Rita of Middlesex, Dottie and her husband David DeCota of Bernardsville, and Carolyn and her husband Rinaldo Marquez of Phoenix, Az. Also survived by five grandchildren, Andrew DeFilippis , Julia DeFilippis Bartlett, Alison DeCota, Matthew DeCota, and Olivia Marquez, two sisters Esher Haynes of Furnandiana, FL, and Dolores Kelczyski of St. Cloud, Fl.
Was a very Patriotic man and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of The Warren American Legion. He also was an avid Fisherman, and deer hunter, and was well known for cooking many venison dinners in Warren, Watchung, and private homes.
He was a member and past master (1973) of Congdon Overlook Masonic Lodge in Bernardsville and also was a member of Salaam Temple A.A.O.N.M.S of Livingston, The Ancient orders of accepted Scotish Rite and the American Merchant Marines Veterans Association. Also he and his wife where members of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014, 11:00 am at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge. Interment will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Warren. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, May 30, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM & 7:00 – 9:00 PM.
