Grandma Burns,
I will always remember the wonderful time we had together at the cabin. Your legacy will last forever in the form of the wonderful children and grandchildren. I was truly blessed to become part of the Burns family and be able to part of your life!
Love, Rebecca Burns

Dearest Mom: You were a woman of many talents and charms, but your greatest gift was the unconditional love that you extended to your children. You were the embodiment of maternal love, and to be on the receiving end of one of your hugs was the cure for many sorrows and tribulations. You were the heart of our family. I will love you always.

Thank you Mrs. Burns for treating me like a third son. I will always remember playing gin rummy with you, swapping recipe tips, and introducing me to the awesome musicianship of The Inkspots and other luminaries of the Big Band Era. Thanks for being the best grandma to Cassie & Penelope!

I will never forget Christmases and other times spent with Grandma in New Jersey. They are some of the best memories of my childhood. She was extremely generous -- in fact, I would not have been able to get through a few years of school without her -- and always loved seeing me and Tim, even though I know we could be unruly when we were younger. I will always treasure those memories of her in New Jersey and I will will always miss my Grandma Burns. My thoughts are with my Father and the rest of the family who will be present.

Dear Ellie ~
I will always remember you as a woman of great faith. We chatted over that subject many times through the years. And at this time, I am reminded of your favorite psalm: "The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing I shall want."
For the person living in faith, death from this life is not an end, but a stepping stone to a new beginning ~ the beginning of a life that is ever-joyous, free of pain, and filled with people you have missed for so long. What a joy it must be to once again gaze upon your soul mate, hear him say, "Wolfie," and feel the warmth of his embrace for the first time in 25 years...to kiss your mother and father again...to hug your brother John. What a 64th anniversary you will have with Joe Sr. this December; I will picture it as I light the bayberry candles Christmas Eve.
Nearly the entire generation that came before us is gone. You are added to that list now, and you will be dearly missed. But I know you are enjoying your eternal reward, ever with us in spirit, watching over all of your family. I'm sure Joey draws strength from that thought as he fights this current battle; I know Fiona and I do.
You live on in every heart, and in God's time, we will see you again. And the second time around, there will be no more goodbyes.
God love you...God bless you...God keep you.
Love,
Maria, Joey and Fiona
