Obituary of Louis J Williams

Louis John Williams of Bernardsville, NJ, died on Tuesday evening after a long illness following a stroke.  He was born to Anna and Louis John Miller in 1934.  His father passed when he was young boy and he was adopted by John M. Williams when Anna remarried.  Lou is a graduate of Madison High School and Newark College of Engineering earning a degree in mechanical engineering. Married in 1958 to Catherine Flood of Rockaway, NJ, Lou and Catherine traveled extensively across the United States working on the Titan Missile Program and Lunar Exploratory Module ("LEM") for the Apollo Program.  Lou's career then brought him to the commercial construction market in NJ, NY and Washington, DC where he worked for the firms of Frank Briscoe, Turner Construction and Clark Construction retiring in 2001. An avid saltwater fisherman, woodworker and military history buff, Lou enjoyed spending his free time on Long Beach Island with his wife of 55 years, children and grandchildren. A proud father of four children, Louis J. Williams II of Vienna, VA, Teri DeSena of Warrington, PA, Lisa Hall of Memphis, TN and John M. Williams of Glastonbury, CT and grandfather of nine, four girls and five boys.  Family was very important to him and he always enjoyed having them by his side.  Lou is survived by his wife Catherine, his sister Maria Fenton of Williamsburg, VA, his brother John Williams of Long Valley, NJ and his sister Paulette Royt of Fairfax, VA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Claremont Road in Bernardsville, NJ on Saturday, November 23rd at 10:00 am.  Burial will immediately follow at Saint Cecilia's Cemetery,  Academy Road in Rockaway, NJ.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening, November 22nd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finely Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ.  Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey Hospice ("VNA Hospice") Please call (973) 451-4169
