Obituary of Sister Kaethe Kimmich
Sister Kaethe Kimmich
Sister Kaethe Kimmich, of Liberty Corner, was called Home to be with her Lord forever on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the age of 106.
Sister Kaethe was born in Frankfurt, Germany on September 7, 1907. At age five, her mother died and when her father entered WWI, she was raised by her aunt in southern Germany. At age 18, she returned to Frankfurt to study cooking for 2 years, and traveled to the USA at age 21, settling in the Philadelphia, PA area. Finding work as an au pair and in households, she soon began attending German Christian Endeavor meetings and the services held by the German Deaconesses of the Fellowship Deaconry, headquartered in Liberty Corner, NJ. Not long thereafter she experienced the joy that comes from trusting in Christ as Savior from her sins, and received the assurance of eternal life with Him. It is this Life into which God has now called her.
In 1936, with the assurance that she, too should serve the Lord as a Deaconess of the Fellowship Deaconry, and she entered the Motherhouse in Liberty Corner in March 1937. After nurses training at Bethany Deaconess Hospital in Brooklyn, NY (1939~1942), Sister Kaethe worked as a private duty nurse. From 1943 to 1952 she did church work in Irvington, NJ, and from 1954 to her retirement in 1980 she proclaimed the Gospel to the German-American population of Ridgewood, Queens, NY. Summers were always spent in Liberty Corner teaching children and youth, to whom she imparted countless blessings and godly influence.
A viewing will be held in Maranatha Chapel on the campus of Fellowship Deaconry Ministries, 3575 Valley Road, Liberty Corner, NJ at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 20th, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge, followed by a light lunch for all participants at approximately 12:30 PM in the Main Dining Room of the Fellowship Conference Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters' Fund of Fellowship Deaconry Ministries.
Sister Kaethe is now absent from her body, but present with the Lord whom she loved and served!
