Obituary of Gerard F Doody

Gerard F. Doody of Doylestown, Pa., husband of Mary (Costello) for 56 years, died after a valiant fight with glioblastoma, on Aug. 23, 2013.   He was the son of the late Richard and Bridie Doody, the father of Monica Barry, Gerard, the late Michael, and Maryna Sullivan and the father-in-law of George Barry and John Sullivan. He was also the proud grandfather of Chris, Brendan and Ian Barry and Colm and Deirdre Sullivan.  Jerry was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a long time parishioner of O.L.P.H. Church.  He retired from American Express Co., NYC after 37 years.  He was pre-deceased by his brothers Jim, Dick, Mike and his sister, Marge Laffey.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sister St. Monica I.H.M., his brother-in-law Rev. Andrew Costello C.SS.R. and many nieces and nephews.  A liturgy of Christina burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 29at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King in New Vernon, NJ, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ on Tuesday August 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Gerard’s name to Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street Suite 750 Philadelphia, Pa 19104.
