Obituary of John J. Cushing

John Joseph Cushing, 61, of Bernardsville, N.J. died on June 15th at Concord (NH) Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Washington, D.C., the son of Mildred (Heath) and Thomas William Cushing. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in Mass Communication. During his career, he worked for newspaper organizations on the West and East coasts. He also worked for an international trading company in New Jersey and, for the last fifteen years, was a real estate agent for Weichert Company in Bernardsville, NJ. He was passionate about ice hockey, favoring the New York Rangers. He was an accomplished carpenter, loved doing crossword puzzles and was a seasoned drummer. He was predeceased by his wife Susan McCarthy Cushing and his brother William Thomas Cushing. He is survived by his parents, Mildred and Thomas Cushing of Hopkinton, NH and Hobe Sound, FL; a sister Catherine Cushing of Hopkinton, NH; a brother David Cushing of Boston; his nephews, Sean McCarthy, Charles Cushing, and Nicholas Cushing, and his niece, Emma Cushing. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held on Friday June 21st 5-7 pm at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
