Rev. Msgr. once walked, talked, and laughed with us on earth. He was a dear friend and glad to know he is rejoicing in heaven.

You were my first Pastor and I learned more from you than all my years in seminary. I have always held you in a special place in my heart. I have not seen you in many years but always prayed for you. Thank you for all your support, guidance and the example of committment and devotion to our Lord.

We will miss Monsignor Torney. He was a wonderful pastor and a great supporter of the youth in our parrish. He always encouraged us to grow and reach out to help others to grow. He was always on time, so much so that staff loveingly called him "Count Down John". Like my father Corn, he never met a person he didn't like. God Bless you Father Torney.

As we go through life, certain people have a deep-felt effect upon us. Father Torney was indeed one of them. I and my family will deeply miss him. However, the Lord has called him and we take solace he is enjoying a game of basketball with the angels in heaven.

There will never be another priest like Msgr. Torney. My entire family served Msgr. Torney with pride, including my Aunt Veronica (Ronnie), his housekeeper. His humility was unique and his way of handling the different kinds of parishioners does not exist today. He will be sorely missed by all of us from the B'ville days.......Suzie Bradley

Fr. Torney was a selfless, dedicated, kindhearted, and most humble Priest. We were blessed to visit him last October 16th on his 102nd Birthday. His love for Christ and for everyone he met will remain with me forever.

Sometimes in life we are lucky enough to know someone who puts others before themselves, who possesses a gentle calmness in the mist of chaos and a fierce determination to lead by example. Msgr. Torney -- my first pastor -- was such a man.

I remember Fr. Torney fondly. I was the first Reinschmidt child baptized by him; He also gave me my first holy communion and performed my wedding ceremony. The entire time I lived in Bernardsville, he was the pastor of OLPH which gave me security in my faith. I certainly hope that he is united with my mom and dad in heaven, and they are reminising about the old days together. May God bless you bountifully Fr. Torney!
