Obituary of Raymond Edward Jones
Raymond Edward Jones, July 7, 1923 – May 9, 2013, loving husband of Theresa M. Jones, (nee Stephen), long-time resident of Mt. Kemble Lake, Harding Township, NJ and Ramsey, NJ. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Ray graduated from Dickinson High School and became one of the few high school graduates to become a PBY7 pilot in the US Navy, flying in the Caribbean and Bermuda Triangle in World War II. After serving his country, Ray completed his BA and MBA degrees respectively from Rutgers University and Columbia Business School in four years, after which he embarked on a highly successful career of 38 years at AT&T and its associated companies, culminating in his position as Director of Executive Benefits for the Corporation.
Following his business career, he and loving wife and partner of almost 68 years, Theresa, became more active with their collections of occupational shaving mugs and all antique nautical equipment specializing in brass ship lanterns. Ray was well known as an expert in these fields and was often requested for consultations on the authenticity of discoveries in these unique areas, including those with the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
At the time of his death, Ray was surrounded by his devoted family including his wife, Theresa, his daughters Pamela Jones Rothlisberger (Terry) and Lesley Jones and five grandchildren, Jennifer Ruff, Todd Rothlisberger, Andrew Ruff, Scott Rothlisberger, and Meredith Ruff.
