Obituary of John J Lucas
John J. Lucas Sr., 88, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was born in Newark NJ, before moving to Bernardsville.
He was a First Sergeant with the Bernardsville Police Department for 30 years. After retiring from the Police Department, John became a Bernardsville Crossing Guard for at least 20 years. John served his country proud and was a military veteran and fought in the fourth infantry division in WWII from D-Day to Czechoslovakia, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
John is predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth H. Lucas in 2001.
He is survived by his son John J. Lucas Jr. of Gettysburg, Pa, 2 brothers, David Lucas and wife Jean of Somerville, Thomas Lucas of Pontotoc, MS. he is also survived by his sister Theresa Lucas of Ca.
Relatives and friends may visit at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 9 - 11 am. Graveside Service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, 11:30 am.
