Obituary of Gerald S Dowling

Gerald Dowling died peacefully in his sleep on February 15th. He was a resident of Tewksbury and was 83 years old. Jerry was an Agency Manager with State Farm Insurance for over 35 years. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter and President of the NJ Chapter of Life Underwriters. Prior to his career with State Farm, he served in the United States Navy. While the family lived in Basking Ridge, he served as President of Pop Warner Football in Bernardsville and Basking Ridge. He was also Trustee of the Seth Randolph Shiba Trust which was established for the benefit of a local high school football player who was critically injured during a game. Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Vita, in 2008. He is survived by Jerry, Jr and Dori Dowling of Chatham Township, Carole Dowling of Basking Ridge and Lisa Surella of Mendham. He had 5 grandchildren: Stephen, Sarah and Anna Dowling and Robert and Nikki Surella. The viewing will be held at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge on Tuesday, February 19, from 5 to 7 pm.
