Obituary of Joseph Victor Loya

Joseph V. Loya, 69, of Basking Ridge, passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Tuesday Jan. 15, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Portage, Pa and served his country proudly in the US Army during Vietnam. He later attended Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa. before beginning his career at Western Electric.. Joe is survived by his loving wife Joanne, son Patrick (Heather) Loya, High Bridge, NJ, daughters, Ruthann Loya, Pinebrook, NJ, Maria Lynn Bowers (Justin) Annadale, NJ and Jennifer Loya, Parsippany, NJ. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Serafia, Abrielle and Logan. He also leaves 11 brothers and sisters and their respective spouses: Stephen and Andrew Loya, of Dawson, M. Timothy Loya, of Salisbury, Md., Mary (Loya) Najeski, of Pleasant Hills, Helen and John Hvasta, and Eugene (Niki) Loya, of St. Augustine, Fla., Anna Jane (Tom) Petty, of Trenton, N.J., Theodore Loya, of Spring Lake, N.J., the Rev. Daniel Loya, of East Pittsburgh, Kathleen Biernacki, of Toledo, Ohio, J., and Lawrence (Bernadette) Loya, of Brandon, Fla. as well as countless cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. John, of Greensburg, Francis, of North Chelmsford, Mass. And, Paul A. Loya, Dawson, Pa. Joe was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was warm, kind, and selfless man who's easy smile lit up a room. Everyone who knew him was touched by his gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him endlessly. Visitation will be held on Fri Jan. 18, 2013 6-8PM at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Sat Jan 19 2013 10:00AM at the Church of St. James, 184 South Finely Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
