Obituary of William J Schweickert

William John Schweickert Jr., of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away on Thursday December 27, 2012. A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Sunday December 30 2012 at 1:30pm at the Church of St James. Burial will be held on Monday December 31, 2012 at 10am at the Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union, NJ. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 29, 2012 from 2-5pm at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ. Mr. Schweickert was born in Orange, NJ and moved to Union. He graduated from Oratory Prep and from Seton Hall University. He served with the US. Army 101st Airborne Division and attained the rank of 1stLieutenant. He was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. Bill was an avid golfer, great chef and baker. Mr. Schweickert was the vice president of the Leisure Club of Basking Ridge, and vice president of AARP. He was also a member of the Elks. Bill was the beloved husband of Rosalie (nee Torre) loving father of Dr. Mary Jo and husband Dr. Joseph Kenny of CT, and Angela and husband Joseph Lavelle of Macon, GA. He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia Ann Schweickert. Bill also leaves two sisters, Mary Schweickert and Kathy and husband Robert Armstrong, along with 2 nephews and a niece. "Gramps" as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren Patrick and Moira Kenny, Torre, Claire Rose and Daniel Lavelle, will be sadly missed.
