Obituary of Carole Ann McCarthy

Carole Ann McCarthy, nee Carney, born on December 15, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to parents John Carney and Mary Hayes, has passed away at the age of 85 on March 1 st , 2024. Carole Ann was the youngest of six children, being predeceased by Gertrude, John, Dorothy, Annamae and Joseph.

Carole Ann is survived by her daughter Colleen Stroup, and her two sons Keith Stroup and Gerard Stroup from her first marriage to Kenneth T. Stroup, who passed on March 7 th , 1983. Carole Ann was remarried to James E. McCarthy, who passed on March 24 th , 2006 and leaves behind step children James McCarthy Jr., Thomas McCarthy, Julie Ross, Cindy Ryan, and Dennis McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy, the youngest of the extended family passed unexpectedly in 2003.

Carole Ann also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carole Ann was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Community known as The People of Hope.

Known for her humor, ready smile, and dedication to her husbands, family and church, Carole Ann was a bright and joyful light to all those who knew her.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held for Carole Ann at St. James Church in Basking Ridge, NJ on Saturday March16 th , 2024 at 11:00am. A viewing at the church will begin at 9:45am prior to the service. There will be no repast after services.

Due to the observance of Lent, please do not send flowers or bring them to the church.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to St. James Catholic Church. A private graveside ceremony for immediate family will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, NJ, following the church service.
