Obituary of Robert D Grandjean
Robert D. Grandjean, a native of New Jersey for 70 years died at his home in Basking Ridge November 11, 2012, a victim of brain cancer. Mr. Grandjean, an avid golfer, was a member of The Basking Ridge Country Club, passionate about the Civil War, and loved music, was taken ill two years ago. A true sportsman, he loved the Yankees and the NY Giants.
Mr. Grandjean graduated from Queen of Peace Grammar and High School in North Arlington where he played three sports, excelling as an ardent basketball player, as well as an honor student. He later attended La Salle University in Philadelphia on a sports scholarship. He coached little league, the local Pacer Basketball Team in Parsippany, and coached his daughter in tennis at Ridge High School, Basking Ridge.
Before moving to Basking Ridge, Robert and his family lived in Parsippany where he was active in county politics and served two terms as President of the Sedgefield Civic Assoc, in 1976 and 1977. He founded his own company, Sedgefield Associates, and served as President for over 40 years, He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Ann wife of 43 years, daughter Jacalynn Mary, son-in-law Tony and granddaughter Antonia Blanca, who resides in Ohio and son James William of Mine Hill.
A liturgy of Christian burial will be held on Thursday November 15, 2012 at 10am at the Church of St. James, 184 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday November 14, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 South Finley Ave, Basking Ridge.
