Pasquale L. Cutaneo “Pat Cutaneo”
June 18, 1939-August 22, 2023
Artistic Painter, Decorator and Contractor, Pasquale L. Cutaneo went home to be with our Lord after a 13 year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular Dementia, and most recently Pancreatic Cancer. He was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn to Michelina (Rizzo) and Vito Cutaneo. Always creative, expressive and quick with wit, his charisma will not be forgotten. Also known as Pat, he got his first break as a painter and wall paper hanger for Joe DiMaggio. A New York Times article published in 1993 spoke of his lofty decorating standards. For over three decades, Pat painted the walls for prominent designers including Mario Buatta, Parish-Hadley, Jed Johnson, Irving & Fleming, MAC II, Alan Wanzenberg and Mark Hampton. He personally painted and is referenced in Mark Hampton’s book, Mark Hampton on Designing. Along with Mark Hampton and Mario Buatta, Pat collaborated and painted the Blair House for former President and Mrs. George Bush. He painted and gifted his artistic flare to Gracie Mansion, Brooke Astor, Estee Lauder, Diana Ross and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to name a few of the many elite clients he cherished working for.
He had a great love for his family asking little but giving so much.
One of his greatest passions included singing. Turning down a contract as a teen to work and provide for his family, Pat joined many local choral groups in New York and New Jersey. He shared his pristine and rich voice not only with friends and family but with groups including The Mel-O-Chords, Summit Chorale, The Celebration Singers, and his church choir. As a member of the concert opera chorus Coro Lirico, Pat had the opportunity to sing once at Carnegie Hall.
Pat is predeceased by his former wife Anne J. Morrison, his eldest son, Patrick, his parents, brother-in-law, Tony Marino and many loved ones. He is survived by his children: Christine Eads (Gary Sylvia), Mark Cutaneo (Theresa), Scott Cutaneo (Auxi) and Karen Cutaneo (David McKinney). His surviving grandchildren include Alexandra Powell (Jason), Danielle Eads, Paul Cutaneo, Zack Cutaneo, Owen Cutaneo, Scotty Cutaneo, Vincent Davis, Christopher Cutaneo, Ryan Cutaneo and great-grandson, James William Powell, and daughters-in-law Sylvia Velez and Jacqueline Balloutine. His siblings include Annette Marino(Tony), Louis Cutaneo (Fran), Janet Benante(Charlie) and several nieces and nephews. He was blessed with a special friend, Beverly Horstmann and wonderful caregivers including Grace, Barbara, Cindy, Robin, Suzette, Sue and Mikeisha.
