I was a patient of Dr. McGlone and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He took great care of my eyes and always had a funny joke to tell me. One time during a visit I asked him " I have a floater in my eye and when will it go away?" He replied back to me, "When you go away!" I had a good laugh over that but he was a straight shooter when it came to honest answers. I remember the happiness on his face when I found a political lawn sign that said "McGlone for Mayor". I had to bring it to him and he placed it over his desk in his office from what I was told. This was the type of guy he was and I or one will miss him terribly!.

So sorry to hear this news, and to hear it so late. I thought he retired to do some cycling and other fun things. Ugh! What a great practitioner. So sorry for the loss to the family and friends.

I am beyond sad to just learn of Dr. McGlone's passing. I was a patient and friend of his for his entire time in Millburn. He was always so supportive of my endeavors and we always had the best conversations. He took true interest in what you had to say. We always talked music and life as a business owner. I feel terrible that I am just learning this. I will always think of him fondly and as an all around positive and great guy. I'll miss you Doc. Rest easy pal.

It is with a sad heart that I am writing this message. Dr. McGlone has been my doctor for many years. His compassion and love for his patients was evident as soon as you stepped into the office. You see the staff had the same care and concern for us as Dr. McGlone,His spirit and humor filled the office. Thank you McGlone family for letting us have a piece of your love one for so many years.

When I met him 25 years ago, it quickly was apparent that Vince truly was a Renaissance man – a cook with master chef skills (creating delicious meals, sometimes including a printed menu), a compassionate, consummate professional doctor with the patience of a saint (no matter how long it took, you were leaving his office with accurate contact lenses and excellent vision), a talented athlete who always challenged himself (swimming, biking, doing a triathlon, drinking a scotch), a creator of beautiful spaces (the Hobart Avenue walkway and the Butternut Lane vegetable garden and patio), and so much more. He embraced all that the world had to offer and took his family and friends along for the ride. He was the kind of person you could call when you had an emergency and he’d do whatever possible to help. Thanks to him, I have enjoyed mono-vision for decades, can’t swim laps without thinking of him, and have a very nice coffee machine because he waited in line at a store in NYC.
Vince was a talented, caring, funny, great all-around guy who will be missed by so many, including me. We were so fortunate to have him in our lives because Vince clearly made this world a better place.
Deepest sympathy and much love to Denise, Elizabeth, & Patrick.

Early this morning I found out that Dr. McGlone passed away. I'm saddened to hear this news. Dr. McGlone was my eye doctor for about 4-5 yrs. I had been having a serious eye issue and one of my ex-boyfriends referred me to Dr. McGlone. He helped me so much. I enjoyed his dry humor. He always teased me about my hair color. He was a great eye doctor. He always took so much time to thoroughly figure out different solutions to help me with my eye issue. No other eye doctor was as thorough as him. Since his practice closed I've been lost without his expertise. It has made me miss him even more. Last year I had the opportunity to mail Dr. McGlone a card telling him and thanking him for the powerful impact he had upon the lives of my ex-boyfriend and I. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to his wife, son & daughter, his siblings, his granddaughter, all of his loved ones & friends, his staff and all of his patients. Dr. McGlone was a blessing to many. I thank God for the life of Dr. McGlone. I pray that I will see him again one day.

My condolences to the family. Dr. McGlone will truly be missed. I had the opportunity to know him as my doctor and friend for over 20 years. His kindness and professionalism was exceptional. He would go over and beyond the call of duty to see that his patients received the best eye care.
He will truly be missed.

My condolences to Vince's family on his passing. I was in Vince's high school class at Bishop Ireton and ran on the cross-country team with him. You may remember him better as a Hall of Fame high school swimmer, but he was also part of a very successful cross-country team in our junior and senior years. We went 10-1 in our junior year, and we won the Washington Metropolitan Catholic championship in our senior year.
Cross country is a team sport; you add the ranks of the top five finishers from each team, and the low score wins. You can have one or two great runners, but if you don't have five solid runners, it is difficult to win. Vince was consistently the third, fourth or (in our senior year) fifth runner, and he almost always beat the corresponding positions on the other team, or we would not have had the success we had. Pretty amazing when you consider that swimming was probably his main athletic priority in high school.
I always got along well with Vince; he was a lot of fun, liked to drive fast (hopefully he got over that) and pull friendly pranks.
I hope your grief passes quickly and your good memories of Vince stay with you. Best wishes.

I am very sad to hear of Vince’s passing. We worked together a short time years ago and recall him always smiling and friendly. We have been colleagues sharing patients for years since. Always reliable and exceptionally talented, he always worked hard to pull vision out of even the most challenging cases. I could count on him for any of my patients. His dedication to his patients was an inspiration. He was an asset to his profession and will truly be missed.

I will always remember Dr. McGlone as a kind and considerate man, with a pleasant smile and a real ease with engaging in conversation. He was an excellent eye doctor, generous with his time and talent. He led a full and meaningful life, and his passing notes with joy and sadness the loss of a good man. My sincere condolences to his family. I hope you know how caringly and lovingly he spoke of you.
I became a patient of Dr. McGlone when he bought the optometry practice from Dr. Strulowitz. Having an eye doctor appointment with Dr. McGlone felt like visiting a friend who would always take an interest in hearing about you, share good news about his family, talk current events, and then find time to check your eyes. But, how did it never come up that he was inducted into his high school's Sports Hall of Fame for the Swim & Dive Team, and had been an archaeologist and followed the Grateful Dead!!? I was thrilled to learn more about him. I just thought he was nice guy, with a wonderful family, the gift to gab, and a terrific staff, a full bowl of Starbursts, and a jigsaw puzzle to remind us all that it's more fun to do a jigsaw puzzle than to do a visual eye field test.
I have felt very fortunate to have had my eyes and my daughter's eyes cared for so well by Dr. McGlone. And more so, we both have felt so fortunate to have enjoyed sharing time with him. We will miss him. May he Rest in Peace.
With sympathy,
Diane Lioudis

Q: How did you meet Vincent?
A: When Dr. McGlone bought the optometry practice from Dr. Strulowitz, my father and I both followed on as patients. Dr. McGlone would never rushed through an appointment, always taking the time to ask questions to get to know you better. (He also had the coolest suspenders I'd ever seen!) Even though my father and I had different appointment dates/times - Dr. McGlone would always ask about my dad (especially when he was getting up in age and struggling with Parkinson's. My father passed in 2020). We would also talk about current events, business, recent trips he had taken with his wife and family. I usually booked the 8am appointment so I could get to work, and it was nice to start the day on a friendly note. I was saddened to learn when he had to close his practice last year. I've been praying for him and now will continue to keep his family in my prayers.

I'm incredibly sad that Vince has passed. I can only imagine the loss to his family and friends.
I was his patient at Millburn for as long as he practiced there. He was a caring and terrific doctor.
I wish I had known more about his early years in India, and his time as an Archaeologist! And following the Grateful Dead!
He was funny, brilliant, humane, and one of the most enjoyable people I've ever known. We had a great doctor-patient relationship, involving constant snarking and joking with each other. I teased him about his triathlon training, and his not triathlon training,
Maybe because we were the same age, we seemed to see the same humor in things. My last visit, he had to give me some not-so-good news about one of my eyes. He was so human, kind, and insightful. And as usual, we treated the situation with shared, rueful humor. I had no idea he was facing something so grave in his own health. He was my doctor, but he felt like my comrade. I imagine there are many people who feel the same.
My heart goes out to his family. My deepest condolences on your loss.
Good-bye old friend.
