Dear Mary and family,
We are so sorry for you loss. We will miss Ed greatly. His big heart and irrepressible smile brought joy to us and anyone he encountered. He was such a special man and husband to you, father and grandfather, as well as a special friend to us and everyone the Lord brought into his life. Your were such a loving, faithful wife to him and we know he treasured your love and that of your beautiful family. We have always treasured your friendship, ever since our trip to Israel in 2008, when you celebrated your 50th wedding anniversary at Cana, Israel. We treasure the picture we took of the two of you at Cana. We will always remember yours and Ed’s kindness and friendship, as well as our many conversations with Ed and you in our Bible Study group, after Mass, at various functions and meals at Church. We pray the Lord will continue to comfort and hold you and your whole family in the palm of His hand and in His loving arms as you continue to remember Ed. With lots of love, hugs, kisses and prayers for you and your family,
Joseph and Lucy Franceus

Dear Mary and family,
I am sorry for your loss.
We grieve, but not like those without hope ( cf. 1 Thess 4:13).
I wasn't able to attend the funeral Mass for Ed, but I did get a copy of the program.
As I looked though the booklet, I prayed for the happy repose of his soul and for the consolation of the Holy Spirit in this time of loss for you and your family.
One thing I noticed on the program booklet, there was no picture of Ed. Typical of the way he lived his life, never drawing attention to himself. The selected readings ~ "the faithful shall abide with Him in love"....."whether we live or die, we are the Lord's"...."so that where I am, you may also be" ~ all spoke of how trustworthy are God's promises, and " how happy the man who takes refuge in God" (Psalm 34:9) Ed was that happy man.
Probably about 12 years ago I facilitated a study group on Christian virtues in which Ed participated. I remember that he affirmed me in that role during the period of study, and took other opportunities to encourage me when we chatted in the narthex after Sunday Mass or at the quarterly men's mini-retreats. I used to see you both at the 8 am daily Mass and Friday fellowship.
Again, I am sorry for your loss . I share your loss, but also your hope.

Ed was my friend and I will miss him. He was a man of integrity, dignity, compassion, gratitude . . . with stories to tell and a wonderful sense of humor . . . and that smile - WOW! He was a a man of/for Humanity . . . a Man of Peace . . . a Man of Business . . . a Man of Service - thank you . . . a Man of Faith . . . a Man of Community . . . a Man of Generosity & Philanthropy . . . and most of all - a Man of Family! No greater legacy could a Man leave this world. I first met Ed when he was Company Group Chair and bringing Phil Carne to ETHICON as our new President. At the moment I did not know who Ed or Phil were - but I quickly learned and they were so pleasant in their greeting to me!
To Mary and Family - my deepest and sincerest condolences. May Ed Rest in Peace. Love to all Donald Bowers (ETHICON: 1980-2004)

Dear Mary and children and grandchildren,
We wish to express our sincere love and condolences to you.
We have been friends for the 50 years, when we moved in across the street in Bridgewater.
Also we have shared many memorable life experiences. Trips to Mattapoisett, great dinners and
chatting up the Red Sox. Ed always had a great story to share or a joke.
The memories will always be with us.
Love and blessings Ronnie and Cy
