Obituary of Geraldine Ferraiuolo
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Geraldine Ferraiuolo,
88, longtime resident of Basking Ridge. Gerry passed away peacefully at home on
June 13, 2022 after a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born on
October 19, 1933 in Glen Ridge, N.J. to Lawrence and Sadie (nee Buccino) Maffie,
the youngest of three siblings. Gerry graduated from Bloomfield High where she
attended with her childhood sweetheart Richard whom she would later marry
and share 68 wonderful years of marriage. After graduating, Gerry worked for the
Prudential Insurance Company in Newark, N.J. Rich and Gerry lived in Nutley and
Morris Plains before moving to Basking Ridge.
Geraldine’s life was centered on her family and her faith. She was a loving
mother to her daughter Donna, and grandmother to Jacqueline, who would one
day make her a great-grandmother to Logan and Jack, her greatest joys.
Gerry prayed the rosary daily, was an avid reader and had a passion for interior
decorating. Gerry enjoyed hosting the holidays, especially Christmas Day.
Gerry put her heart and soul into every dinner she hosted and so was the author
of the many memories that her family is now left with. Gerry will be dearly missed
and forever in our hearts.
In addition to her daughter Donna and son-in-law Paul, Gerry is survived by her
granddaughter Jacqueline and her husband Scott of Morristown, her great-
grandchildren Logan Elizabeth and John Richard, niece Lynne Chandler and her
husband Ralph, grandniece Ashley Lyons, and her husband Gregory, and great
grandniece Chandler Rose.
She is predeceased by her late husband Richard, parents Lawrence and Sadie,
sister Gloria Jannarone, and brother Joseph Maffie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Gallaway
and Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge N.J.. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at
Church of Christ the King, New Vernon N.J. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 12:00 PM
followed by Interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
