Here are two additional pictures of San Alfonso Retreat House where the previous picture of George and Mary Jane was taken. We always had such inspiring and spirit-filled conversations during the married couples' weekends with George and Mary Jane as well as numerous other couples from our Church of Saint James. We are saddened to hear of George's passing. God bless both George and Mary Jane in Heaven. My wife Lucy and I can picture them resting safely in the arms of both Jesus our Savior and Our Blessed Mother Mary. The attached photo is how we will always remember George and Mary Jane. We took this picture at one of the married couples weekend retreats at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ, that Lucy and I used to attend annually before Covid. We used to have so much fun with them and will miss them dearly. Lucy and I also enjoyed spending time with George and Mary Jane as fellow facilitators for the St. James Bible Study team. My wife, Lucy had a special relationship with Mary Jane, who would always greet her saying, “Hi Lucy goosy” because that was how Mary Jane always greeted their granddaughter, Lucy. As Mary Jane’s condition worsened, George told us that Lucy was one of the few people that Mary Jane still recognized and connected with. It was special seeing Mary Jane light up when she greeted my wife Lucy and it always put a smile on George’s face. I, Joseph, remember spending time with George at the St. James Men's retreats, especially one time where the speaker had the men do an orienteering exercise to navigate a correct path using a compass, to illustrate navigating our way to God. George and I teamed up and had a fun and humorous time trying to find our way. George has navigated his way to Heaven by following our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now reunited with Mary Jane, the love of his life. George took such good care of Mary Jane right up to her going to the Lord last year. We can envision Jesus welcoming George home saying, “Well done good and faithful servant…come and share your master’s happiness” (Matthew 25:23).
We send our virtual love, hugs, kisses, and prayers to George and Mary Jane’s entire family, especially their children and grandchildren, who brought so much joy to George and Mary Jane’s lives. May God bless you all with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as you remember George and Mary Jane. Joseph & Lucy Franceus
