Obituary of Wally Harms

Walter (“Wally”) Andrew Harms, born April 10, 1971, passed on to the happy hunting ground on Thursday, February 3, 2022. After graduating from Bernards High School in 1989, Wally chose to serve his Country, joining the Marines in 1991, and proudly retiring as a Corporal in 1996. In September 1995 he and his wife, Rebekah, met, and married in 1998, setting down roots in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Wally will be fondly remembered for his adoration for his wife and children, and his obsession with the “great outdoors”. We will forever have deer heads, bear and turkey decorating the house, a fond reminder for the kids of quality time spent with Dad while fishing, and the caring, thoughtful side of him when it came to giving back to the community by donating the meat to those in need. Over the years, Wally enjoyed hunting trips in Missouri with his dad, Aunt Nancy, Uncle Rich, son Matt, cousins Cathy, Jim, Rich and Ryan, and childhood friend, Stephen. On most days Wally could be described as deeply loving, proud and dedicated to his children, genuine, funny, and patriotic. He made it well known how much he hated traffic, Route 78, the heat, and blocking the t.v. He had an opinion on everything and made the whole world aware of it. He enjoyed pointing out landscaping he completed while working for Torsilieri, and telling the same story over and over again. He always went above and beyond for everyone and expected nothing in return. His world revolved around his family which included his friends. All of this is true, and were parts of the whole that made Wally the loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend that he was. Wally is survived by his wife and best friend Rebekah Jill, and his three children Leah Audrey (21), Walter Matthew (18) and Karley Ann (12). Wally was predeceased by his father Walter Henry, and is survived by his mother Janet, sisters Debbie, Donna, and Wendy, nieces Lorenza and Marella, his Aunt Ronnie and Uncle Tony, brother-in-law John Ginnie; and more cousins and relatives on both the Harms’ and Sember side than there is room to list. Wally worked for American Maritime for 11 years as a Longshoreman, where he was a respected member of Local Union 1804-1. Kids, you need to know that your dad loved you immensely. He will always be with you, and he will always be watching over you. ALWAYS and FOREVER. A Celebration of Life will be held at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Avenue, Basking Ridge, NJ on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, you are encouraged to make a contribution to a fund set up for the benefit of Wally’s children. Contributions can be made at https://gofund.me/51f1a0c2 . Any amount is appreciated and for those who wish to mail a check, please make the check payable to “Rebekah Harms” and mail to P.O. Box 76, Baptistown, NJ 08803. He will be missed by so many, but the deer and turkey of western NJ can sleep with both eyes closed tonight. End Of Watch – Semper Fi
