Obituary of Jeanette Rospond

Jeanette Rospond (neé Pietrucha) died peacefully at home in Basking Ridge on Jan. 11th just a week before her 98th Birthday. She lived her early years in Newark attending St. Casimir’s School and West Side High. In a family of 7 she was the only girl! After High School, Jeanette worked as a secretary until her marriage to John Rospond. The family lived for many years in South Orange where Jeanette and her mother, Victoria, both good cooks, hosted many a family gathering. During those years Jeanette worked at the Village Hall as administrative assistant in the Building Department. Jeanette was devoted to Faith and Family. Over the years she was active in American Legion Post 319 which was named for her brother Lt. George Pietrucha. She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Jean along with their daughters Lauren Cutting and Erica Bixel. She was beloved great-Grandmother to Georgia, Madeline, Leo, Amber and David. Jeanette’s son, Fr. Paul and her brother, Fr. Ed Pietrucha. C.S.P. are members of the Paulist Fathers and live at St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan. Jeanette’s daughter Mary Chris and husband Marc who live nearby in Green Brook, were generously dedicated to her care these past years. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, January 15, 2022, 2 pm at St. James Church 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge. Due to the surge in Covid the interment of ashes, storytelling and lunch to celebrate her memory will take place in the spring.
