Obituary of David McDonald

David McDonald, 80, of Bernardsville, passed away on November 12, 2021 after a short but difficult battle with leukemia. Dave was a force of nature and forever a hard worker. A plumber by trade, he worked two jobs for over thirty years to provide for his family. Even after retirement from Greenbrook Regional Center, he continued to help his longtime plumbing customers for another several years. Dave was also passionate about and proud of his yard, flowers and garden. He could often be found enjoying the “fruits of his labor” from his rocking chair on his front porch alongside his faithful canine companions. Anyone who knew Dave knew that he was the most loving father, husband and friend. A rare breed, he was always willing and ready to help, even at a moment’s notice. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna, his children Darren, Shannon, Jesse, and Cory and their spouses. Known as “Pop Pop,” he will be deeply missed by his 9 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Gallaway & Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 4:00 – 6:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00am.
