Obituary of Joyce Santillo

Joyce, Carolyn Santillo, 91, of Lopatcong, NJ, formerly of Bernardsville, NJ and West Palm Beach, FL, went to heaven to be with her beloved husband, Joseph on February 9, 2021. Joyce was born in Rochester, NY, on July 25, 1929, to the late Donovan and Ruth (Jenkins) Hurlburt and was married to the late Joseph A. Santillo on October 31, 1946, until his passing in June 2004. A graduate of Bernards High School, Joyce and her husband started a taxi business in 1950 that they owned and operated in Bernardsville for many years. She also worked in the payroll department for Triangle Industries, Ferrante Quarry, Chubb & Son Insurance, and Swede. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alpha, NJ. Joyce was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest joy was spending time with her family, who she always put first. She was an exceptional cook who enjoyed cooking for holidays and family gatherings and was especially known for baking delicious pies. Joyce was an avid reader and animal-lover, both of which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She adored and dearly missed both her dog Trinket and her sweet cat Rosie. Joyce is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Thomas and his wife Nancy of Plymouth, MA, her four daughters, Patricia Sweeney and Rick Buchanan of Bradenton, FL, Susan Fisher of Lopatcong, NJ, Judith Graham and her husband Robert of Stewartsville, NJ, and Tina Rinehart and her husband Paul of Alpha, NJ, as well as her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by her loving brother-in-law, Michael Santillo and his wife, Josephine of Newark, DE, along with many nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at a later date with a Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bernardsville, NJ followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge, NJ, along with her husband Joseph.
