Obituary of Norma Marie Giacobbe

Norma M. Giacobbe, 101, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully of a short illness on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center. Norma was born on November 23, 1919 and grew up on Mulberry Street, the "Little Italy" section of New York City. After moving out of the city Norma moved to Mapplewood, NJ before settling in Basking Ridge. Norma worked as a unit secretary at the St. Mary's Hospital in Orange, NJ. She is a parishioner of St. James Church, Basking Ridge. When she had free time Norma loved cooking and dancing. She was also a top athlete in her time, and a member of the Focolere Movement. She is predeceased by her loving husband Romolo Giacobbe in 1990. She is also predeceased by her siblings Guido, Eva, Armondo, Dante, and Diana. Norma is survived by her two daughters Jade Giacobbe of Hyde Park, NY and Gail Giacobbe of Basking Ridge, NJ. She is also survived by her sister Joan D'Ambola and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home, 101 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, 10:00am at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
