Obituary of Barbara W Louria
Barbara W. Louria, age 90, of Bernardsville, NJ died November 18, 2020. She was born in Massachusetts on May 31st, 1930 and grew-up in CT and VT.
After graduating from the Lyndon Institute, she worked at the Research Institute of America in NYC. While in Manhattan, Barbara was a print model and made many friends, including Dana Louria, who introduced her to her brother, Donald Louria.
In 1955, Barbara married Dr. Donald Louria in a Quaker ceremony at Brooklyn Friends Meeting House. They were married for 65 years. She subsequently became very active as a Board Member of the Quaker Community at Friends Meeting in Chatham, NJ as well as the Quaker Assisted Living Facility. Barbara volunteered in many organizations including The Seeing Eye Dog and The VNA.
Barbara was known by everyone she encountered for her wonderous smile, glamorous style, her gentle and caring personality, and famously, her enormous and contagious laugh. She genuinely loved traveling and great food. She visited more than 60 countries including two safaris in Botswana and Kenya, adventures in the Galapagos, Russia, Czech Republic and even up-close encounters with bison in Yellowstone as well as polar bears in northern Canada. Her favorite place was Lake Willoughby, VT where she spent part of every summer since childhood.
Barbara leaves her daughter, Anne Ludes, son-in-law John Ludes, her daughter-in-law Agi Louria, grandchildren, Johnathan, David and his wife Dvora, Stephen, Hannah, Andrew, Gwen, Isabel, & Grace, as well as great-grandson, Lawson. She also leaves her brother, Wayne Jeffrey Watson and her nieces & nephews, Lorie, Maureen, Jeffrey, Leigh, Susan, Tyler, Amanda, Reed, Myles, Holly, Brad, and Tracy. She was predeceased by her daughter Dana, son Charles, parents Charles and Ruth, step-father Hal, sister Mary-Ruth, brother-in-law Lee, sisters-in-law Barbara, Dana and Patricia as well as her nephew Christopher.
