Carmine F. Latino
Lifelong resident of Bernardsville
Carmine F. "Minnie" Latino passed away unexpectedly at Morristown Memorial Hospital on Monday July 9th. He was 88 years old.
Mr. Latino was a lifelong resident of Bernardsville born on the family's farm on Garibaldi Street. A veteran of World War II he served in General George Patton's 4th Armor and participated in the D-Day Invasion and was wounded in battle in Belgium, for which he received the Purple Heart. He served as past commander of VFW post 7858from 1997-2002. He was a graduate of Bernards High School and was the produce manager of ACME Markets for many years. Upon his retirement he managed the Bernardsville Depot. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and for many years served as usher.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Philomena Maddaluna Latino on November9, 2003
He is survived by his son Joseph of Bernardsville with whom he lived and was cared for, daughter Phyllis Peterson and her husband Eric of Port Monmouth, brother Albert D. Latino, brother-in-law John Groff, and sister-in-law Shirley Maddaluna all of Bernardsville and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. on Thursday July 12that the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home 101 S. Finley Avenue, in Basking Ridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday July 13that the Sacred Heart Chapel, Bernards Avenue, in Bernardsville. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name may be made to the Bernardsville Fire Company P. O. Box 745, Bernardsville, NJ 07924.
