Frank Henrikson

Obituary of Frank W Henrikson

Frank W. Henrikson, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday October 29th, 2020. Before marrying his wife, Doris, Frank travelled the world while working for Exxon. He saw such exciting places as Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and Japan where he spent 3 months living, working, and learning the culture.  He met his wife of 41 years in 1963 at Exxon, bonding over engineering drawings and computer punch cards. They knew right away they had both found their soulmates; their budding romance quickly turned into a life-long love affair. They enjoyed playing bridge with their friends and were highly involved in their Church and their Lutheran faith. After marrying and having two beautiful children, he and his family still travelled, taking several long vacations crisscrossing the country. There was also an annual trip to Disney World, which he and his family loved, taking full heed of the sign “Y’all come back now.” Frank worked at Exxon for 30 years followed by almost 20 years working at Rutgers University. Passionate about research, he put his engineering and management skills to excellent use creating innovations in energy, food science, and chemical technology. Frank also enjoyed bowling, tennis, gardening, collecting rare stamps and coins, reading Tom Clancy novels, and watching his favorite New York sports teams. Frank loved model trains, attending exhibits and often setting up his Lionel Trains in the basement. Frank is survived by his children John and Stacy Henrikson of Colchester, CT and Karin Henrikson and Ronald Kowalski of Montville, NJ, as well as his 3 grandchildren Rebecca Henrikson, and Grace and Will Kowalski. Frank loved his grandchildren more than anything and was devoted to watching their sporting events, hearing about their latest endeavors, and just being around them. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerResearch.org in Frank’s memory. For further information, or to leave an online condolence message please visit www.gcfuneralhome.com
