My mother, Elaine Jennings Clarkson and Ann were best friends in high school and for decades on. Ann and Bob were lovely, generous and fun people. I always looked forward to their “dog and pony show” of slides from their fabulous trips all over the world. Their children Lee and Jeff were around my age and although we did not see each other often were friendly and gracious. I rarely saw my mother relax and enjoy people but with Ann she always could. Later in life my mother would brave New Jersey traffic and drive down from Vermont where she had retired to spend a delightful weekend with them. They went to NYC and caught a couple of shows, a visit to Drew University to the Shakespeare Festival, sometimes the Turtleback Zoo where Ann was a hard-working docent. I will miss her always cheerful demeanor, her kindness to me, and her love for my mother.
